Working within the charm and character of a Grade II listed farmhouse in the Shropshire countryside, our studio developed a sensitive design scheme that respected the heritage of the property while making it more practical for modern family life. Every decision was guided by the building’s historic fabric, ensuring that original features were celebrated and carefully retained.
A key part of the project was the remodelling of the interiors to create a more coherent flow between rooms, enhancing comfort without compromising the farmhouse’s period character. The extension of the kitchen with a new orangery provided a light-filled social space that feels both contemporary and sympathetic, sitting comfortably alongside the traditional architecture of the property.
Throughout the process, we worked closely with a heritage consultant to ensure that all proposals met the necessary requirements for listed buildings. This collaboration allowed us to create a thoughtful and balanced scheme—one that protects the integrity of the farmhouse while giving the owners a home that truly reflects the way they want to live today..
